How We Helped Our Client produce an IP65 Linear Light to use in Dubai

As a lighting solutions provider, we are dedicated to providing customized solutions that meet our clients' unique needs. Recently, we were approached by a client with a challenging project in Dubai - they needed an IP65-rated linear light for an outdoor application, where rain was infrequent but exposure to harsh sunlight was a concern. The client were looking for a cost-effective solution to create an IP65 linear light that could withstand the extreme conditions in Dubai but use an IP20 recessed and wide linear profile.

After carefully reviewing the client's needs and examining the specifications of the components they choose, our team of engineers sprang into action. Here's how we helped our client produce an IP65 linear light using an IP20 linear profile, IP65 PCA, and MEANWELL XLG series driver, while taking into consideration the unique conditions in Dubai.

Custom IP20 linear profile: Considering the infrequent rain weather in Dubai, we didn't use traditional weatherproof gaskets and seals, but this profile is available only PC cover on the market, and as a factory with its own extrusion profile workshop, we decided to use a PMMA (Acrylic) matt diffuser for UV stabilization. This prevents the diffuser from yellowing due to prolonged hot sunlight exposure.

Processing PCA: Firstly, we process the SMD PCA using a glue spraying process to add glue to the surface of the LEDs, plus we further enhanced the IP65 PCA by using waterproof connectors and cables to protect against moisture ingress. We also had a water immersion test before assembly to ensure that the LEDs effectively protected.

Utilizing the MEANWELL XLG Series Driver: The MEANWELL XLG series driver is known for its high efficiency and reliable performance, making it an ideal choice for outdoor lighting applications. We integrated the MEANWELL XLG series driver with the IP65 PCA to ensure optimal performance and durability in the harsh Dubai environment. In addition, as this project required the driver to be placed 3 metres away from the light fixture, 2*0.3mm² wire was chosen to avoid voltage drop.

In conclusion, our team's expertise in customization, rigorous testing, and understanding of the unique conditions in Dubai enabled us to Leveraging the client's existing IP20 linear profile, IP65 PCA, and MEANWELL XLG series driver, we provided a cost-effective solution that not only met the possibilities of outdoor use but also addressed the specific challenges posed by the harsh sunlight in Dubai.
