Plastic extrusion is a mass manufacturing process in which the raw plastic is melted and formed into a continuous profile. The process begins by feeding the plastic material (pellets, flakes or powders) from the hopper into the barrel of the extruder. By turning the screw and the mechanical energy generated by the heater positioned along the barrel, the material gradually melts. The molten polymer is then pressed into a mold that molds the polymer into a shape that hardens as it cools.
